CNA's Healthcare Reform Recommendations

Project Overview:
The project involved creating a concise document to be added to the health human resources policy page as part of the election platform to be sent to members of parliament during Lobby Week. The document outlined short and long-term recommendations by the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) to the federal government to address the nursing crisis. The main objectives were to effectively communicate these recommendations, emphasize the seriousness of the issue, and propose viable solutions.

Challenges:
The primary challenge was condensing extensive information into just two pages while maintaining clarity and impact. This required creative problem-solving to prioritize content and present it in a visually engaging format. Tight deadlines added pressure to deliver a polished document within a limited timeframe.

My role:
I was responsible for the entire design process, including concept development, layout design, iconography creation, and content organization. Additionally, I collaborated closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with CNA's messaging and objectives.

Creative Process:
The creative process involved first understanding the core message and recommendations provided by CNA. I then developed a layout strategy that maximized space efficiency while maintaining readability. Unique iconography was created to visually represent key concepts, enhancing comprehension and retention. Iterative design revisions were conducted to refine the document's visual appeal and effectiveness.

Strategies used:
To effectively communicate the recommendations and emphasize their importance, I employed a combination of concise text and visually impactful iconography. The layout was carefully crafted to guide the reader's attention and facilitate easy navigation. Branding elements were integrated to reinforce CNA's identity and credibility. Design principles such as hierarchy, typography, and color were leveraged to enhance readability and visual appeal.

Measurable results:
The document received positive feedback from the CEO and all stakeholders and effectively conveyed CNA's recommendations to policymakers during Lobby Week. Its clear and concise presentation facilitated understanding and engagement, contributing to increased awareness of the nursing crisis and support for proposed solutions. Additionally, the document's impact was evident in its role as a catalyst for discussions and actions aimed at addressing healthcare workforce challenges.
